About being led to something sacred

--

In the quiet of the night skies,

I am alone,

except for the beating of my heart.

Breaking the silence are the faraway calls

of the coyote and the great horned owl;

they seem to be communicating with each other

in a language I know not.

What must they be feeling

about our world so torn apart?

As the chill of the night air surrounds me,

there is a sense of peace and amazement.

I stand on firmament

created by a God

who is the ultimate source of love.

My thoughts are of thankfulness

of the gifts I have been given in life,

and for the precious gift of life itself.

As I look upward to the heavens,

I say a prayer of gratitude,

for I am in the presence of One

so powerful, but yet so

forgiving and merciful.

Closing my eyes, there is

peace in my heart.

For in these moments,

the cares of the world have disappeared

in the presence of one so Holy.
